Monitoring Measuring of Health & Safety Performance
EMS (UK) PLC have always taken Health & Safety very seriously, our commitment is underlined by our active membership to the Constructors Health & Safety Group and British Safety Council. We have also achieved the Gold Standard in the CSCS certificate of commitment that dictates that over 75% of staff are registered and have completed the necessary safety courses; if fact we have taken this one step further, from May 2005 we achieved 100% which we maintain to this day. We are regular winners of the Contractors safety awards on the various sites that we work on. Do you want to know how we achieve this? Then please read on…

Our Health & Safety Manager provides main contractors and their subcontractors with Electrical safety on construction sites seminars. Our H&S Manager also performs monthly site inspection visits throughout the contract duration to assess our performance; our contract supervisor will ensure that safe working practices and Method Statements are being adhered to. Our contract manager will be responsible for assessing and monitoring the standard of our installation and work practices. His ‘hands on’ approach will be the first line of monitoring our performance and coordinating with the main contractor regarding Health & Safety issues. We employ a simple checklist system to monitor the condition of our plant; each piece of equipment has an individual record and inspection sheet. These sheets are completed at regular intervals and are kept to form part of our audit trail. This does not exclude the informal day-to-day observation to the whole installation.
EMS (UK) PLC employs a ZERO tolerance to Health & Safety issues and proactively report on-site issues before they become problems. We perform periodic inspections and testing of our installations and the results are recorded on NIC/EIC uniquely numbered certificates, these are audited by the NIC/EIC on a yearly basic. We maintain accident books at all our site offices. All accidents are reported and recorded and our Director for Health & Safety takes the relevant actions. Accidents that occur involving our personnel on the project will be reported to the main contractor as soon as any risk has been dealt with.
Our own Health & Safety policy describes the responsibilities and duties of the various personnel regarding Health & Safety within the EMS (UK) PLC organisation.
