Training

"Training is always a high priority for EMS as is the level and quality of our service with Health & Safety being the highest standard "

Kevin Cook, MD

EMS has always been committed to employing local labour and training. We have a policy of "growing our own" to ensure that our staff have the same high standards that customers have come to acknowledge and expect from EMS.

EMS (UK) PLC have always employed apprentice’s since their formation in 1992, managing director Mr Kevin Cook is a time served electrician and has always believed in giving opportunities to young people.

Since their formation EMS have employed 54 apprentice’s, at present there are 22 electrical apprentice’s and 1 plumbing apprentice.
We employ on average 4 new apprentice’s each year, all are employed via the JTL scheme which is a government funded body which arranges and monitors the apprentice’s college work.
All qualifications are CITY AND GUILDS and are obtained through The Joint Industry training Board, to obtain full electricians qualifications all apprentice’s must pass the AM2 examination a 3 day exam and obtain their NVQ3, EMS (UK) PLC are an equal opportunities employer and have been involved in several local council schemes which are aimed at helping unemployed people.
As our electricians move forward in their careers other skills become necessary for them to fulfil their professional duties, First Aiders will do a 4 day course, IPAF is a course of training for operators of boom, scissor or cherry picker types of vehicle, PASMA is for erectors of alloy towers, confined spaces, fire warden, Site supervisors will sit the CITB SSSTS and site managers the CITB SMSTS courses, Health and Safety is a very important part of an electricians training.
These are just a some of the training skills required by the modern day electrician on a construction site.
An excellent interface with other trades on site is essential for a good safety culture and EMS operatives are encouraged to interact in a polite and proactive manner for the overall wellbeing of the site.

These training schemes not only offer direct experience, but are complemented by day-release to colleges or other training facilities - leading to NVQ or City & Guilds qualifications.

EMS is committed to an apprenticeship scheme which will enable the company to train its own electrical staff. This hopfully will show our clients our commitment to ensuring our workforce is of high quality.
